Jan Bernsteins artistic exploration gravitates towards scientific interests and physical experiments, using new technologies or academic research as sources and inspiration.
Jan Bernstein is fascinated by natural grown structures appearing chaotic at first sight but truly following a clear system. The piece "digitalism is dead" is an expression of this admiration. The dots flip in irregular patterns showing their black and yellow side, creating united areas or popping up in a stark contrast to the environment. Without software working in the background the movements originate in a pure analogue process. Because of overlapping magnet fields the pixels are flipping. The diversity of possible magnetic overlaps allows no repetition of a structure, so every moment is singular, unpredictable, chaotic and in order at the same time.
